Well we are Emily browning porno of PlayStation Plus and likely four months away from the release of the PlayStation 5. As such, it may be time for Sony to start bringing out the big guns in terms of free games offered on the service, and I thought it was time to start making some predictions and listening to rumblings.

The actual games likely will not be listed until a week from today, July 29, the last Wednesday of the month, though they may leak before then. But until then, it’s time to start wondering exactly what might be coming.

Last August, back in 2019, brought us two lower key free titles, Wipeout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4, so that may be the case this time, but as ever, people want the heavy hitters. So what are the chances we will see any of the following?

Horizon Zero Dawn – A sequel has just been announced in the form of Horizon Forbidden West, and yet I think this game may still just be too valuable to PlayStation to give away for free. If they do, it may be closer to when Forbidden West comes out, and we don’t have a date on that yet. Likely late 2021 at the earliest. Also, the PC version of HZD comes out in August, so Sony wouldn’t want to overshadow that.

Spider-Man – This one I could potentially see with Miles Morales just around the corner. And yet given that Miles Morales is essentially the only truly “big” exclusive PS4 launch game, I’m not sure it needs any promotion to help sell it, and in fact, Sony may be banking on people picking up an “upgraded” PS5 Spider-Man this fall, making its offering with PS Plus free here now a big awkward. So my guess is no.

Assassin’s Creed Origins – Yeah alright, this one I can see. Ubisoft needs a win right now, and Origins is old enough where it seems likely that it could show up on a service like this for free at this point. It’s the first in this new “RPG” era of the franchise, and could serve as a good lead-in to Valhalla this fall. This would be a good choice, and one I can see being possible.

The Division 2 – This game is only a little over a year old, but I think it’s slowly starting to lose the great loot shooter war to Destiny 2 (now free to play, and in a good state) and Borderlands 3 (which set franchise records). More exposure via PlayStation Plus would be a good thing at this point.

Prey – We have learned that DEATHLOOP is a timed exclusive for PlayStation, and this would be another Bethesda title to cement that partnership further. Prey is an excellent, but overlooked game and would be a stellar addition to anyone’s library. Another good pick.

I don’t know enough about smaller games to pick one of those, but there are usually two larger titles and one smaller one, like this current month, where we have NBA 2K20, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Erica, which you can get through the first week of next month.

I will keep my ear to the ground for more potential info about next month’s game, but for now, we just have to throw coins in the wishing well.
